AgricostiEurope – Exploring the economic impact of innovation

Within the Excalibur project, significant efforts have been dedicated to monitoring production costs and assessing the economic impact of the innovative and more sustainable agronomic practices tested during the project activities. A key outcome of this work is the availability of structured and comparable cost data, allowing stakeholders to evaluate how these virtuous practices influence farm economics.

AgricostiEurope is the web application that makes these results accessible. First and foremost, it serves as a tool to consult the economic findings of the project: through the platform, users can explore the cost data elaborated within Excalibur and assess differences in production costs associated with the innovative practices studied. In this way, AgricostiEurope translates research outcomes into practical, transparent and consultable information.

The data collected during the monitoring phase, together with the calculation algorithms developed within the project, have been fully integrated into the system. The application enables users to analyse costs both by cost item (euro per hectare per cost item) and by operation (euro per hectare per operation), providing a detailed breakdown of each component. This structure makes it possible to identify cost drivers and to compare conventional and more sustainable management choices in economic terms.

All reports can be downloaded in Excel format, facilitating benchmarking between individual farm situations and the data monitored within the project. This feature supports discussions between farmers, field technicians and producer organizations, encouraging informed decision-making based on measurable economic evidence.
