NIAB, EMR is a major organisation in the UK for research on horticultural crops and their interactions with the environment.
Their experience in plant research, aiming to increase crop resilience against biotic and abiotic stresses and implement sustainable soil management strategies, will be extremely useful to link soil biodiversity with plant responses under different stress conditions.
They will support the analyses on microbial diversity and functions under open-field conditions (WP1, WP4) and will host one of the apple field trials, focusing on the effect of microbial soil amendment on apple replant disease (WP3).
Excalibur plans to enhance the knowledge on soil biodiversity dynamics and its synergistic effects with prebiotic and probiotic approaches.
